Loving our unhoused neighbors in the Greater Rochester Area.
When: July 13th @ 10am
Where: 20 Morning Woods Lane
We will be putting together supply kits for you all to take home with you! These will contain some nutrition as well as hygiene kits and a personal note, providing biblical encouragement, reminding our unhoused neighbors of their inherent value, and letting them know that we are praying for them.
Note-writing is the most time-consuming part of our events, so if you’re able to write even a few notes ahead of time, that would be super helpful!
We usually write them on 5x7 index cards and keep it to 2-3 sentences (since they take a while to write otherwise), but we can use anything!
You can see an example here of what kind of notes we typically try to write.
Things to keep in mind when writing notes:
We want this to be as personal as we can. Think about what kind of note would best make you feel seen & loved if you were in their situation!
We want to be encouraging, but they usually do appreciate feeling seen in their situation without a sort of blind optimism “life is hard but God has a plan!” kind of messaging.
If you have a verse on your heart that you think would mean a lot to them, please write it out for them to have!
We try to stay away from anything cliche like “Jesus Loves You!” Though it’s true and we do mean it, the sentiment can often get lost since it’s such a common phrase Christians use without thinking sometimes.
