Frequently Asked Questions
-
Is it safe?
We care a lot about making sure that our volunteers feel safe and protected when we go out to serve those experiencing homelessness. That being said, it’s always best to be on guard (but not assumptive!) while out in the streets. There can be violence and drug use that can be hard to witness, but we believe in the power of prayer before and during these events to keep us safe as we serve.
That being said, the groups always have a good male-to-female ratio for safety reasons, and a culture of protection for one another as we do this outreach.

Can I help even if I don't live in Denver?
Absolutely! We always take donations, 100% of which goes towards covering costs of food and supplies that will be donated to our unhoused neighbors. We’d be so grateful if you want to support us.
We also have people all over the country help us write the encouraging notes that get delivered with every meal and kit we hand out. If you’d like to be part of our note-writing team, click here.
If you’d like to serve with Neighbors in a more committed role, you can read what openings we have on each of our 6 teams and let us know what you’re most interested in here.
-
What if I can't come for the whole time?
That’s totally okay! We need all the help we can get, so whether you’re most comfortable just preparing food, dropping off donations ahead of time, writing encouraging notes, or going out to have conversation with our neighbors, we have a need and a place for you! We want to respect your time and resources, so there is no problem if you have to come late or leave early.

How can I get involved?
Volunteering for our in-person events, joining our note-writing team, donating to our general fund, or joining our team are the main ways you can get involved! There are many ways to get involved, whether or not you live in Denver.
The best way to stay up-to-date on our upcoming events is to join the GroupMe chat!

Who can help with outreach events?
Anyone! While we are a faith-based group and our aim is to show the love of Christ to our neighbors, anyone is welcome to join and serve alongside us. We are not affiliated with any particular church or group, and we welcome diversity of volunteers.
