A little different than most outreach days, we did a dry run of putting together take-home kits, but this time in Rochester, NY! It was such an awesome morning with 14 volunteers, both family and friends (some who I’ve known for my whole life), getting to show them what Neighbors is all about, and putting together 100 bags with hygiene supplies and encouraging notes to be handed out to our unhoused neighbors in Rochester.
Rochester is another city that has high populations of unhoused people, and the need for not only these supplies, but especially for encouragement and life-giving interactions is great. What an amazing little event!
So grateful for everyone who came out, and for the opportunity to take notes and work out the kinks for some of the long-term plans we have for making take-home kits accessible to people who want to have them to give out at any time.
